Stilpon Nestor gives evidence to the “Panel on Corporate Governance: Board Level”

Stilpon Nestor gave evidence in front of the “Panel on corporate governance: board level” established by the Parliamentary Commission on Banking Standards.

In November 2012 Stilpon was one of the four experts called by the Parliamentary Commission to provide evidence on what can be done to improve banking corporate governance as part of the regulatory interventions to reform the UK banking sector. During the debate the panel listened to experts’ views on why bank boards failed to foresee and avoid the crisis and what is needed to prevent this from happening again. The full debate can be watched in the parliament website, here. The Commission was appointed by both Houses of Parliament to consider and report on:
• professional standards and culture of the UK banking sector, taking account of regulatory and competition investigations into the LIBOR rate-setting process;
• lessons to be learned about corporate governance, transparency and conflicts of interest, and their implications for regulation and for Government policy;
• and to make recommendations for legislative and other action.
The Parliamentary Commission on Banking Standards published its final report “Changing banking for good” on 19 June 2013. It outlines the radical reform required to improve standards across the banking industry.
